GK's Rising Damp Treatment Process

 

Rising damp cannot be cured with surface treatments. The only permanent solution is creating a new Damp-Proof Course (DPC) within the existing wall using chemical injection:

 

• Moisture Assessment: moisture meter readings taken at multiple heights on all affected walls to map the damp zone and confirm rising damp diagnosis
• Surface Preparation: removal of damaged plaster, paint, and efflorescence deposits to bare masonry
• Injection DPC Installation: holes drilled at 120mm centres in the mortar course at 150mm above floor level; silane/siloxane-based waterproofing cream injected under low pressure into each hole; cream migrates through mortar and brick by capillary action, curing to create an invisible water-repellent barrier across the full wall thickness
• Drying Period: wall allowed to dry for minimum 2–4 weeks (moisture content monitored) to allow absorbed water to evaporate before re-plastering
• Salt-Resistant Re-Plastering: new render applied using sulphate-resistant cement and crystalline admixture; 3-coat system including scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat; salt-resistant to prevent efflorescence recurrence
• Final Decoration: anti-alkali primer + breathable paint applied after full plaster cure (28 days)
