Waterproofing Warranty & Guarantee in Hyderabad – What You Need to Know

One of the most important — and most misunderstood — aspects of hiring a waterproofing contractor in Hyderabad is the warranty or guarantee offered for the work. A written warranty is your primary protection against premature waterproofing failure, and understanding what it covers (and what it doesn't) is essential before signing any contract.

Standard Waterproofing Warranty Periods in Hyderabad

Different waterproofing systems attract different warranty periods:

• Polymer/PU coating systems: 5–10 years
• Bituminous sheet membrane: 5–10 years
• Crystalline waterproofing: 10 years + (some products offer lifetime warranty for concrete structures)
• Injection grouting: 2–5 year

Be cautious of contractors offering unusually long warranties with vague terms — what matters is the warranty's coverage and the contractor's financial capacity to honour it.

What Should a Waterproofing Warranty Cover?

A proper waterproofing warranty in Hyderabad should clearly state:

• The specific surfaces and areas covered
• The waterproofing system and products used
• The warranty period (start and end dates)
• What constitutes a warrantable defect
• The contractor's obligations if leakage recurs
• What actions by the property owner void the warranty

Typically excluded from warranties: leakage caused by structural failure, plumbing leaks, alterations to the waterproofed area by others, and damage caused by events beyond normal weather conditions.

How to Protect Your Warranty Rights

• Always get the warranty in writing before work begins
• Ensure the warranty document is signed by an authorised representative of the contracting company
• Keep a copy of the quotation, work scope, and warranty document
• Photograph the completed work before any covering screed or tiles are applied
• Report any defects in writing as soon as they appear
• Do not allow any modifications to the waterproofed area without informing the contractor first
